Firm Overview
The
firm consists of Thomas C. Morrison and Valerie A.
Balukas.
Mr.
Morrison has extensive experience in private tax practice,
concentrating on tax planning and tax dispute resolution.
He has had 22 years of prior experience with the I.R.S.
as both a trial attorney and as manager for the I.R.S.
Washington, D.C. Office of District Counsel. He holds
also an LL.M. in Taxation at New York University.
Ms. Balukas (formerly Thresher) has state and
federal trial experience in civil business litigation
and injunctive relief. During her career Ms. Balukas
has represented diverse clients in commercial transactions,
estate planning, and civil litigation matters. She
advises private business owners on the formation and
management of business entities, and drafts or reviews
contracts for the sale and purchase of business interests.
She works closely with clients to create individualized
estate plans and annual gifting plans to minimize taxation
on generational transfers of wealth, family owned businesses,
and family owned farms/ranches.
